Part 2: Sandwich Harbour Dune Drive – Desert Drama Unfolds After the cruise, your desert guide takes over for the second half of your adventure. Departing from Walvis Bay, we head to the famous Flamingo Lagoon, a Ramsar-acclaimed wetland that can host over 300,000 birds — from resident waders to Palaearctic migrants.

Pass through the salt pans and shimmering pink lakes, then buckle up for a thrilling 4x4 dune adventure through !Nara Valley, scanning for desert wildlife like oryx, springbok, and ostrich. We adjust the schedule for optimal viewing and exploration time. ☀️ Optimal Seasons – The tours are perfect year-round, but the best times to visit are from February to June when the temperatures are more moderate. During the hotter months (November to January), we may adjust timings to avoid midday heat. Start Location – The tour begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Swakopmund. We’ll collect you from your hotel or guesthouse just after breakfast, so you can start your day with an exciting adventure! ️ Harsh Desert Climate – The Namib Desert experiences extreme temperatures, with scorching heat during the day, even in winter. Mornings can be cool, but midday temperatures rise quickly. Strong Coastal Winds – The Atlantic Ocean brings unpredictable winds, especially in the afternoons. Be prepared for sand blowing across the dunes. Tide-Dependent Access – Certain parts of Sandwich Harbour can only be accessed when the tide is low.
