We begin our adventure from Underberg, where we’ll set off at 08:00 AM, winding our way up the dramatic Sani Pass. Pause for an early tea and some freshly baked bread at a local Basotho home where you’ll get an insiders view into the rich culture and traditions of the Basotho people, before continuing our ascent to Black Mountain, standing at an impressive 3,240 meters above sea level. From here, you’ll get to take in the awe-inspiring views of Thabana Ntlenyana, the tallest peak in Southern Africa.

As we descend into the Sehonghong Valley, the remote village of Mokhotlong awaits. Here we’ll enjoy a packed lunch while taking in the sights and sounds of this historic trading post that holds so many fascinating stories. (Please be sure to notify us of any dietary requirements when making your booking) After lunch we continue our journey to the secluded village of Makhapung, where you’ll get to meet the local traditional healer and witness an authentic ceremonial dance while enjoying a true cultural exchange with the villagers.

After our visit to the village we begin our descent back down the Sani Pass and return to Underberg around 17:30 PM. This tour is the perfect blend of adventure, nature, culture, and history, offering an unparalleled glimpse into the lives of the Basotho people.
