Lesson in Johannesburg by Sundowner Adventures
Sundowner Adventures presents adults & children with an opportunity to try a new adventure activity in a safe and secure environment. This is a great way to learn all about the skills and techniques to enjoy fly fishing. Its a fun adventure for individuals, couples and families.
Fly-fishing is fun, clean (no grubby bait!) outdoor adventure in the open air. It is good exercise but you don't a high fitness level. The equipment and flies are available for hire, however you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
This is a group activity but we limit the size to a max of 6 people. Experienced guides will patiently teach you the basic skills required for fly fishing and to assist with practical fishing guidance. The teaching is done in a fun and easy to understand manner. We adhere to strict COVID protocols with sanitizing of hands, rental fishing equipment and social distancing. Its outdoors in the open air. Children should ideally be a minimum of 10 years old to join the group lesson. Parents with younger kids are welcome to book a private clinic.
We believe in keeping the sport environmentally friendly so all fish caught must be released (And we teach guests the proper techniques required for correctly releasing the fish so that they do not get injured). The dams have Trout, Bass, Carp, Kurper and Cat fish.
Guests selecting the lesson are able to continue fishing on on the dams and with rented equipment for the rest of the day.
Lesson are hosted at Lanseria Country Estate on Saturday or Sundays from 8:00-9:30am. Enquire about additional available days during school holidays.

A very enjoyable experience. A nice venue, not to far to make regular return visits. Wayne is a very knowledgeable coach and has a very customer centric approach. I am looking forward to booking some of the other packages on offer. Well worth the time and money.

The instructor was knowledgeable and enthusiastic which made the lesson fun, even in the rain. He also spent some extra time with us at the dam, after the lesson, to help us on a one-on-one basis thus ensuring that we were able to spend the rest of the day practicing and having fun. This was a great father/son activity. Thanks to Pieter for the great lesson (and the much needed hot coffee).

It was an amazing experience, I told Keith upfront that I have never fished before. He went through the whole setup first explaining all about how the rod, lines, reel setup and flies worked. This was the part that I was hoping for and he explained everything to me as a non fisherman. I enjoyed the practical side as well and understand that it is all practice. The venue is good. Thank you, I really enjoyed the morning with Keith.
