Sundowner Adventures presents adults & children with an opportunity to try a new adventure activity in a safe and secure environment. This is a great way to learn all about the skills and techniques to enjoy fly fishing. Its a fun adventure for individuals, couples and families.
Fly-fishing is fun, clean (no grubby bait!) outdoor adventure in the open air. It is good exercise but you don't a high fitness level. The equipment and flies are available for hire, however you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
This is a Private activity where we prefer to allocate a max of 2-3 fishers to one one guide (same family/group). Experienced guides will patiently teach you the basic skills required for fly fishing and to assist with practical fishing guidance. The teaching is done in a fun and easy to understand manner. We adhere to strict COVID protocols with sanitizing of hands, rental fishing equipment and social distancing. Its outdoors in the open air. Children from 6 years old are welcome to attend but should ideally be attended by a parent/adult.
We believe in keeping the sport environmentally friendly so all fish caught must be released (And we teach guests the proper techniques required for correctly releasing the fish so that they do not get injured). The dams have Trout, Bass, Carp, Kurper and Cat fish.
Guests selecting the lesson are able to continue fishing on on the dams and with rented equipment for the rest of the day.
Booking dates and times are flexible for Private lessons.

Out guide was very patient, even answering my questions, not just my husband's. All relevant information was clearly explained to enable my husband to make an informed decision if he would enjoy embarking on the fly fishing journey or not. Ruhan even fetched a different rod from his car to allow my husband to feel the difference. Besides getting lost, this was a good experience. Thank you sincerely.

We were not very impressed with the fly fishing lesson we attended on 1 June 2024. It certainly was not worth the money paid. Declan was a lovely young man, but he was quite mechanical about the lesson and considering my partner and I were total amateurs, he did not really bring it down to our level. We fumbled through the early parts of the lesson, but there seemed to be no structure about "must have" information. Declan was inarticulate at times, although it was very clear he knew his stuff. We then spent some time at the dam, and I think he could have been more attentive about the various aspects of fly fishing technique. To be fair, I am an experienced teacher so maybe I expected too much, but it just left us feeling a little unsure. I have had a separate lesson since this experience and it was chalk and cheese. The venue is absolutely splendid, and had we know it was going to be so pleasant there, we would have booked in for lunch. The museum is great fun, and the service is friendly and professional. The owners really do love their sport and are passionate about its history and variety. It's hard to be too critical because we did not consider the day a waste of time, but we do think that more could be offered for the price we paid.
