Papiesfontein Beach Horse Rides offers guests an unforgettable view of the bush, river and beach around Jeffrey’s Bay and the chance to see wildlife including bushbuck, rare birds and even whales, as well as breathtaking dunes and vegetation on guided two-hour horseback rides.
Started by Frankie and Esré Lötter in 1996, Papiesfontein Beach Horse Rides now have plenty of well trained, good-natured horses, as well as experienced guides who escort riders twice daily on a 13 km route culminating in a 6km stretch of pristine, deserted beach. This popular experience is not to be missed.

Such an incredible experience we had to do it twice! My family and I had a wonderful time on both rides, the horses and staff were all fantastic, I rode Ava and absolutely fell in love! Would 100% recommend to anyone and would definitely come again next time I visit South Africa!

Driving from Gqeberha to Knysna I spotted the horseback riding option at Google Maps. As my daughter is an enthusiastic rider, I took the offer and was surprised by the easy way of attaining the goal. The area is awesome, very tranquil near the ocean. We were welcomed very friendly by Cassandra and her team. My daughter got a brilliant horse and enjoyed the ride as an experienced rider very, very much, especially the two hours' span and the fabulous track along the seaside, well guided by an attentice equine professional. Smiling happily she returned and enjoyed the whole acitivity, which she would have instantly repeated. Five points for that experience!
