The history of Soweto is closely tied to South Africa’s journey to freedom. Join us as we explore Soccer City, Kliptown (one of Soweto’s oldest districts), the Hector Pieterson Museum, Vilikazi Street (where both Mandela and Tutu once lived), finishing off with a traditional kota lunch and a visit to the Apartheid Museum (full-day tours).

We took the full day SoWeTo and apartheid museum tour. The tour was very well organized and our guide was willing to answer all the many questions we had. It was very interesting and I recommend it to try understand a bit of a part of South Africa that might be out from touristic highlights. Apartheid museum is vast but very interesting, describing recent historical facts of which we did not have deep knowledge. At Curiocity, people are so nice and welcoming

With Curiosity we took the Soweto full day tour and the Inner-city walking tour, we are a family of three and we loved every bit of the tours, our two guides Zepo and Eko have great, kind personalities and explained us so much about Joburg, Soweto, Maboneng and the Inner-city area, shared it's contradictions and the vibe, it was so inspiring to visit Mandela's House, Hector's Pieterson Memorial and the Little Rose Center in Kliptown, to see how much there is still to do to meliorate the lifes of so many and seeing such dedication to help. Later we really enjoyed the food at Lebo's. As the Apartheid museum was closed we visited Costitution Hill and our guide there was so capable in bringing to life the past and present history and explaining some artworks. On our second tour, the inner-city walking, at the start we were a bit nervous cause of Joburg reputation but being with our guide Eko we felt safe and welcomed everywhere, we loved to see the murals, the revitalized Maboneng precint with it's art and music studios and passig by Kentridge's studio, feel the busy atmosphere and watching the city from the rooftop of Hallmark House, visiting the Kwa Mai Mai market and a lot more... Wow! Johannesburg really ought to be more visited and lived and we are sure that in the next future this fascinating city will thrive nicely, I wish we had more days to explore, this trip really fulfilled our memories, thank you so much for what you do and for sharing it with us, Sala Kahle!
