WHO ARE WE? Curiocity is a network of African design hostels, sharing an authentic experience of this continent, one city at a time. We want to connect the curious traveller to what’s exciting, inspiring and real in whichever location we’re in. As an accessible, design hostel offering we give travellers the chance to stay in spaces that are not only affordable but also amazingly designed to.
We tend to choose locations outside of the expected tourist areas, giving our guests a local’s experience of a destination. And we take this commitment to our cities to heart, partnering with local businesses, designers and individuals to make every Curiocity experience a unique one.
Curiocity is for the young and not so young, the global traveler and the local visitor, for a quick stop-over and a deep dive into the city. So when you’re planning your next trip to our part of the world, book your spot at one of our locations. We’ll save a space for you at the bar.

It would have been nice to get an insight into the "low level" township areas as well, apart from visiting the popular places such as museums, memorials or the restaurant. Maybe this is quite difficult, but in my point of view this is more interesting than the better areas.

Since everyone advised us not to walk around in Joburg, we looked for a different way to explore the city. A bicycletour seemed like a good alternative - and it was! We saw parts of the city the touristbus didn't cover and had time to take pictures and look around. We did expect to get a little more information (the information we received was pretty basic) and we missed some enthousiasm in our guide (but maybe he had a bad day?). It was great that our car could be parked right in front of the cafe so that we were sure our belongings (all our luggage was in there since we were driving to the airport afterwards) were safe. Thank you for this! We also enjoyed a drink in the bar after our tour, it's a really nice place to sit and feel the atmosphere in this area. I does seem like a good idea to invest in some better bikes because they were all a little crooked but overall it was a nice experience.

I did the half day Soweto tour. I had so much fun and my guide was very very knowledgeable about the history, politics and community. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone staying at the hostel. We also had some kota (paid for as part of the tour) and it was delicious. 10/10 day.
