More about Storms River Kayak & Lilo

Explore the Storms River Gorge in the Tsitsikamma National Park by kayaking and even floating along on a lilo. The Kayak & Lilo activity sees guests kayaking up the Storms River Mouth. The adventure takes you right into a bat cave and alongside beautiful cliff and forest scenery.

Guests enjoy exploring further up the river/deeper up the gorge by floating on a lilo. For wilder types, there is also cliff jumping on offer. This is a 2–3 hour guided kayaking activity for everyone over eight years old and is an unforgettable way to see some of South Africa’s magnificent scenery.

Arrangements

Duration:

3 hours 30 minutes

When:

Seven days a week, all year round, subject to availability.

Where:

We are located INSIDE Tsitsikamma National Park, at Storms River Mouth. Our office overlooks the Storms River Mouth and ocean, and we are tucked nicely underneath the restaurant. From Plettenberg Bay we are approximately a 45km drive down the N2 towards Port Elizabeth. Take the RIGHT hand turn "Tsitsikamma National Park", and drive to the Park Gate. From the entry of the National Park there is only one road, so you can't get lost! Follow this road to the very end, park in the carpark and follow the red Untouched Adventures signs underneath the restaurant to the Storms River Harbour. From Jeffreys Bay we are approximately 1 hours drive down the N2 towards Plettenberg Bay. After you drive over the Storms River Bridge and pass the petrol station, pass Storms River Village, and turn LEFT at the "Tsitsikamma National Park" sign and drive to the Park Gate. (This left hand turn is before the toll gates - so if you've passed the Bungy and are at the Toll Gates, you've gone too far!). From the entry of the National Park there is only one road, so you can't get lost! Follow this road to the very end, park in the carpark and follow the red Untouched Adventures signs by the carpark. Important Notes: - SANParks Gate entry fees are excluded from our Pricing. - During Peak season there is a delay at the Gate entry, and we strongly suggest arriving at least 1 hour before your trip to give enough time to get through the gate. - Please see below video link of where to find us https://youtu.be/4KkJRHX-mWQ?si=SruZyd63n3uM0KBU

Weather:

In the event of big swell or strong winds, the trip will automatically be transferred to a Hike, Kayak and Lilo. This can take up to 2 hours 30 minutes, with +/- 40minutes of forest hiking. The group will be guided to the Storms River Mouth along a board walked hiking trail and start the kayak and lilo adventure from the safety of the river mouth. Weather is constantly monitored and the trip will be cancelled if safety is a concern.

What to Wear:

Swimming costume, shirt and closed toe shoes (on the colder days bring warm clothes) - wetsuits and water shoes available for rent

Firstly I would like to thank the staff for exceptional service & friendliness. We had a great group and the weather was amazing. Bit cloudy but it cleared up soon enough. The environment speaks for itself and cannot be described with the best adjectives. It simply is something you have to experience for yourself. The kayak ride was fun and is a great bonding activity. All equipment is kept in great condition and I personally feel that the price was a steal! You get so much more than what you pay for. I most enjoyed the Lilo's and looking up out of the towering rock face made me feel so small, yet i felt peaceful and couldn't imagine that something like a car was ever invented. The bird sounds and water stream was the beautiful "traffic" noises. By far the best way to reconnect with nature. My only regret is that I didn't buy the photo disc to relive those beautiful memories. Thank you for a wonderful experience. ☺
