Despite being reticent to book a township tour, I enjoyed the Half Day Camissa Township Tour. I found it to be an interesting view of a significant portion of Cape Town's population. Despite the conditions of some of the buildings it really did feel like a town and a community. The guides (current and former residents) spoke with passion about Langa and it was infectious - you could feel the pride in their community. I didn't feel like we were unwelcome at all but it did feel a bit intrusive coming into people's homes. I did not take any pictures - that felt like it was crossing a line for me. If people are curious about the townships I would recommend doing this tour - it was a very different perspective of life and interesting seeing the types of places I'd been driving past for weeks.

This was our best tour in Capetown and our guide Godfri was fantastic and learned us so much about Langa. Thanks for everything!

The Camissa township and Gospel Tour was an unforgettable highlight of our time in Cape Town. It's far more than a sightseeing trip --- it's an immersive cultural experience that brings you into the heart of the community. Godfrey was warm, knowledgeable, entertaining and made us feel truly welcome. The gospel service itself was powerful, joyful, and deeply moving; Langa township was a real insight into the history and daily life of the community with honesty and warmth, making the experience respectful and meaningful rather than touristy.

This was one of the most interesting and unique activities we did in Cape Town during our visit over the Christmas holidays. To visit a township on the outskirts of the city was a privilege and exceptional experience, as these places are not usually safe or accessible to visitors on a casual basis. To learn about the challenges that the black community faces and the type of lives of the residents of Langa township was truly humbling and gave us an in-depth perspective on what might be described as the underbelly of South Africa. We were welcomed by the residents and joined their Sunday gospel church singing/prayers. While the tragedy of poverty was evident, the local guide and resident was cheery, positive, entertaining and extremely articulate in giving us this insight. We were highly impressed by this trip and embraced by those we met. If you decide to go, make sure you contribute financially and as generously as possible, as every cent makes a difference to the quality of life of these disenfranchised people.
