Sailing across Knysna’s expansive liquid landscape on board Springtide Charter’s sleek 50ft mono hull yacht is a truly memorable experience. Our highly experienced crew will take to the helm so you can relax and take in the splendour of our rugged coastline; sailing, salt air and scenery all an exhilarating combination.
Knysna is one of South Africa’s premier whale watching destinations, its indigo depths teeming with hundreds of migrating whales. Ocean Odyssey is the only Close Encounter Whale Watching permit holder for the Greater Knysna area. Throughout the year we also offer Marine Eco-Tours. We are passionate about showcasing both the whales that frequent our local waters as well as the many other fascinating species that exist within the complex web of marine life. The tour was sensational and we enjoyed it very much. In particular, travelling in a small boat on rough seas was an impressive experience. The boat captain was a skilled sailor and we were able to observe the whales, dolphins and seals up close. Compared to Hermanus, where we were travelling on a large boat, we found the experience much more intense, even though we were shaken about quite a bit during the trip. Ranking: 10 from 10

This was a great trip in the bay of Knysna and then out to the Indian Ocean. It was a great experience. Even saw some dolphins close to the ship. Skipper was skilled, so we fell safe all the time. Snacks and drinks on our way back were good and tasty. Highly recommended !!!

What an amazing experience, thank you Ocean Odyssey Team! The overcast weather meant the whales were very active and we ended up close to a number of spectacular breaches of the most beautiful humpback whales. The calm energy of the whales, coupled with the enthusiasm of Stef and his crew made for a truly wonderful experience. Thank you once again from us locals and our overseas guests, who were also blown away!!
